Look what the Lord has done!

Look What the Lord Has Done!

That phrase from an older Pentecostal anthem has been stuck in my head the last week. When we (the worship team) would break into it in the 90’s people in our church would jump and shout, and some would set to runnin’ the room. Some of you may know exactly what I am talking about, maybe you were even doing the running. I can hear it now…

I’m gonna praise His name

Each day He’s just the same

Come on and praise Him

Look what the Lord has done!

I’m about to get wound up myself!

That is how I feel about the things I have witnessed God doing recently. I had the honor and privilege of being a part of God bringing healing and hope to so many this past week. I can’t help but celebrate. I am just coming off of a 4 Day Unbound School and a 2-day event in Miami with a wonderful ministry called Hope 4 Life Miami.

I want to encourage you in something. Here is my story.

It appeared that everything possible was going wrong leading into these two events. Sarah got sick Friday before the Unbound school, which was to start Monday morning. Sunday evening our three-year-old came down with the flu and by Monday the doctor diagnosed my daughter also.  That left Sarah at home, still not feeling 100% herself, taking care of kids while doing her health coaching and preparing to speak on Wednesday as well as prepare for and leave for Miami on Friday.

Wednesday afternoon, right before we were to speak, I had a sudden and sharp headache came on which only worsened, and by that evening I felt horrible. Though I went to the school the next morning, I had to let others take over most of my duties for Thursday. But I decided I was able to minister a corporate Father’s Blessing. Then it happened, God showed up and people received the blessing and freedom! You could see it all over the room.

By that evening, I felt horrible again. I woke in the middle of the night with my throat feeling as if I had swallowed razor blades. How in the world was I going to fly the next day?  After a couple hours, I finally fell asleep again around 4 am.

At 4:30 am, Sarah, who had been sleeping with our sick three-year-old all week, woke me.  She was in excruciating pain. We had seen it before. It was pancreas pain. We left for the ER.  In the end, the ER doctor decided to keep her and put her on bowel rest for a few days.

Then I had to figure out what to do with Miami.  They had lots of investment in us coming, we couldn’t just cancel. On the other hand, I was not prepared to teach all 8 hours by myself especially while not feeling well. I scrambled and talked to the folks in Miami about our friend Robert Hartzell coming. Thankfully they agreed to that. So with my wife telling me to go, I left for Miami with her in the hospital and family and friends stepping in to help.

I arrived feeling exhausted and completely unprepared. Somehow, I managed to get out of bed in the morning. From the first meeting, God showed up! As we repented of our false image of God and received Him as Father, people were weeping and being set free from their skewed images of God due to abuse, abandonment, and rejection by parents and authority figures. It took off from there. I began to feel better and Robert was awesome. At the end on Sunday, another Father’s Blessing sealed an incredible weekend. The leaders, Lakhi and Giovanna, said they have been receiving tons of texts from people telling them how life-changing it was.

So, what I want to encourage you in, especially leaders, is that He is there. He is working in your life. He is working through you and calling you to partner with Him in the family business. And most of all, when you are weak, He is strong! Very strong!

As our friend Ed Piorek says:

”When I am strong, God’s love can’t find me, but when I am weak God’s love finds me and makes me strong.”

He is crazy about you. He wants to make you strong. You may be in the middle of stress and crisis wondering to yourself, “will this ever end?” But you can look back and maybe at some point look back on today and say, or even sing, “Look what the Lord has done!”

Look what the Lord has done

Look what the Lord has done

He healed my body,

He touched my mind,

He saved me just in time!

If you have never heard this song, just visit YouTube and type in Look what the Lord has done. (I am partial to Karen Wheaton’s version.) It’s totally not my type of music normally, but there is just something about it. Especially when I see victories that could only be Him!

Yes! I was freed of things at the unbound school while you were getting sick. Thank you for being faithful! How are you doing and how is Sarah doing?

Haha! So glad David. I got your call and will call you back as soon as I get the chance. Sarah is making some progress in that she may be able to come home tomorrow. She will still be on clear liquids for a couple more days though.
