Attrition is a warfare strategy used by an army in an attempt to win a war by wearing down your enemy to the point of failure through continuous losses in manpower and material resources. The goal is not to conquer land or isolate large sections of an army. The goal is continuous loss! Bertrand Russell says “War does not always determine who is right – only who is left.” While Jesus has done a finished work on the cross, the enemy still does battle against the children of God. His hope is to weaken us to the extent that we fail to seize opportunity to bring change to the world by introducing a loving Father. This message is about how to not only survive the attrition Satan has thrown against God’s children, but how to thrive despite continuous losses. My whole life and the life of Shiloh Place seems to have been marked by continuous loss. From the time I was very small even unto now at age 31, there has been the death of loved ones, devastating financial blows, sickness, loss of friendships, and much more that have taken us two steps back for every three steps forward. In this life, we have control over one thing: We can react to our situation with hope or with despair. I hope this teaching, this story of my life, will give you the ability to look to the Lord with optimism and secure your prize. Exodus 14:14.
